Crime Numbers

In the year 2021, Clinton County recorded a total of 150 crimes. According to law enforcement agencies, the county recorded 21 violent crimes and 129 property crimes in the county. The violent crimes reported in Clinton County include 0 murders and 16 aggravated assaults, while property crimes reported include 33 burglaries, 75 larcenies, and 21 motor vehicle thefts.

Compared to the 2012 crime figure for the county, these numbers indicate violent crimes increased by 65%, and property crimes increased by 15%. Between 2017 and 2012, there was a 64% increase in aggravated assaults, 28% decline in burglaries, 30% increase in larcenies, and 90% increase in motor vehicle theft. How Do I Get Clinton County Criminal Records?

The DCI charges $15 per name to search criminal history records. Criminal history records can be obtained in three ways: by mail or fax, in person, or online.

To obtain a criminal history record by mail or fax, a requester must complete both the request form and billing form. For each last name submitted, a separate request form must be filled. However, just one billing form is required for making several requests at once.

Birth records between 1880 - 1920 and 1942 to date are available at the Clinton County Recorder’s Office. The Bureau of Health Statistics has birth records from 1921 - 1941. Also, unwed births, adoption records, and legal name changes before 1990 must be obtained from the Bureau of Health Statistics.
