Based on the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Webster County reported a total of 173 crimes in 2016. This includes 46 violent crimes and 127 property crimes. The violent crimes reported include one murder, two rapes, one robbery, and 42 aggravated assaults. The property crimes reported consisted of 54 burglaries, 56 larcenies, 17 motor vehicle thefts, and five arsons. The crime figures reveal a slight decline in reported crime rates over five years. Between 2013 and 2017, three out of seven major crimes declined. Murder, burglary, and larceny rates declined by 50%, 26%, and 48% respectively. While rape, aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft, and arson rates increased by 100%, 147%, 70%, and 150% respectively. Incidents of robbery remained the same in both years.
